about

'I Lived on Planet You' is my entry to The Engine Room's ‘SAMPLING HOLST’ competition - part of Morley’s The Planets Festival, which celebrates 100 years since the premiere of the ground-breaking classical orchestral work ‘The Planets’ by Gustav Holst, Director of Music at Morley College London at the time. The competition invites 5 minute maximum remixes of 'The Planets' suite, using the samples provided. More details can be found here: engineroomlondon.org/competition/

This track is dedicated to my late wife Emma, who suffered from bipolar affective disorder and who died tragically in November 2017. It would have been her 37th birthday on 15th June this year - which serendipitously happens to also be the deadline for competition entries. So this is my gift to her and the universe.

***UPDATE: I WON FIRST PRIZE. You can listen to the album Morley have put together to mark the competitrion here: termrecords.bandcamp.com/album/sampling-holst?fbclid=IwAR2FLVWqzjobSWgSQAoOhxDh5F9S0sLsMwXCTdujXmC40n8JsKTEap1diKw
