Based on a simple poem I wrote

lyrics

He walked slowly and leadenly to the station

his head in his chest

the wind at his ears

*

Ahead lay a long commute

and he sank into the waiting room chair

and waited

for the train

*

The woman opposite him was knitting

for the whole journey

& got off at the stop before him.

He had an itch at the base of his back

but didn't scratch it.

*

At lunchtime he moved the pile of papers

from in front of him

to the side of the desk

and went to the canteen to buy a salad.

There was avocado in the salad.

He didn't like avocado.

He picked it out with his fork and put it in the bin.

*

The afternoon passed.

*

At 5.30pm he heard a faint ringing

growing stronger

until he awoke.

Yawning, he shook himself,

rubbed his chin

and flew out the window to have adventures.
